Freelance product designer - home textile accessories

Budget: $1,000 to $2,500

Creative, fun-loving home fashion and technology startup seeking product design consultant to help develop initial product line of home accessories (e.g. bedding, drapery, etc.).  May lead to follow-on work or full-time opportunities.

Project Objective
We are looking for a product design consultant to work on a short-term project developing product specifications and working with our manufacturer to ensure a quality final product.  Final scope of work will be negotiated upon hire.

• Develop paper and/or electronic patterns for three main product lines
• Develop product specifications and bill of materials
• Create prototypes and working samples for three main product lines
• Work with cut & sew contractor(s) to communicate specifications and ensure proper construction of products
• Evaluate factory samples to insure proper quality and construction

• Experience with designing soft goods, preferably home textile accessories (e.g. bedding, curtains, soft accessories)
• Must be proficient in the technical aspects of soft goods design and construction
• Proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop and appropriate CAD software
• Great eye for detail, quality and style
• Flexible, self-starter with a great work ethic
• Excellent project and client management skills
• Knowledge of industry regulations and testing preferred
