Freelance Writer Opportunity

We’re looking for a Desk Editor to maintain the Culture section of our web publication.

The Culture section looks at the state of our culture and comments on it, and looks at how world events affect the arts, the audience and the creation and inspiration of new works. This section of the Free Articulator is devoted to analysis and viewpoints, and looks at such topics as social justice and corporate responsibility.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will have a good knowledge of and interest in culture, world affairs and work with artists to have their say on what’s happening in the world. Your job will include:

  1. Managing contributors and writers in your section
  2. Editing and preparing articles for publication
  3. Ensuring one article is published per day, by yourself or a contributor
  4. Promoting articles through social media and word of mouth

Each week, two of those articles must be Feature articles (600+ words with an inquisitive, insightful comment on some aspect of culture).

Skillset

The successful applicant will be:

  1. Proficient in writing and editing English
  2. Be willing to work with others via the Internet
  3. Knowledge of WordPress, HTML and image editing is an advantage

This job would require several hours per week, so it’s an excellent choice for those looking for extra work, work experience or to add to their portfolio.

The magazine is written by Creative Artists for Creative Artists, so you may find extra income opportunities through writing articles that fall under our other sections (optional).

Payment will be by monthly revenue share.
