We are looking for a web designer who can help us pioneer the next generation of advertisements on leading social networks like Facebook. Gratis Internet has been in the web marketing and advertising space for eight years and in 2008 launched an ad serving product called SocialCash. Social Cash enables us to serve ads on leading applications to users all over the world through Facebook. Given that these ads are seen millions of times a day, you will be in the unique position of contributing significant value through even the most subtle design innovations.

The Challenge

The web has undergone some rapid changes over the past few years and most advertisers are struggling to keep up. At Gratis, our job is to connect global advertisers with customers and to engage them in meaningful ways. The great thing about sites like Facebook is that they have provided tons of new ways that we can innovate; the challenge is finding the best paths, testing them, then forging ahead with the best one. You will be a critical part of the team that will find the answer and then push it out to millions of users around the world.

The Environment and Work Style

Though our company is now 40+ people here in the DC office, we keep the feel of a small start-up technology company. We work hard, play hard, and often mix the two. This position is much more than just a skill set. You will need to welcome new creative and conceptual challenges as well as simultaneously manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and fluid work environment. In this position, the work pace will be fast and you’ll be expected to quickly spit out impeccable HTML templates and CSS sheets under tight deadlines. We’ll then put the ads live, test them, re-group, and make tweaks or take a new direction. It is a constant launch-learn-relaunch type position that will so entertain you that you’ll enjoy it more than playing Super Monkey Ball on any given evening. In order to succeed you must have a willingness to learn. We are an energetic, high speed group and value open and frank communicators.

The Responsibilities: • Work with our Ad Delivery Management, Ad Services and Marketing Operations teams to create unique, targeted advertisements. • Assist in conducting A/B and multivariant tests to isolate what elements of an ad are most effective. • Create HTML for Banner Ads. • Create templates for all ad sizes. • Explore and discover potential new ad designs and formats. • Assist in producing a variety of marketing materials for SocialCash and Gratis.

The Requirements: • A thorough understanding of HTML. You will be responsible for the HTML production of all the ads you design. • A thorough understanding of CSS and tying specific stylesheets to HTML for various ad sizes and mediums. • A command of Flash is preferred, but not mandatory. • You are great with Photoshop and Illustrator. • Basic PHP and programming skills helpful. • Experience creating actual Internet ads.
