I’m in the process of overhauling the look and feel of my current personal website. In the past, I’ve done most of the development and design myself, but I don’t have enough time to work on the design this time around. I’m looking for someone that has experience in vector-based character design and can take a concept I have in mind and transform it into a creative design.

With this new design, I’m really targeting a humorous geeky theme with subtle undertones of sarcasm all wrapped into a vector theme design with myself being the character. To give you a sense of the kind of illustrations I’m looking for, here are a few examples of sites that contain the general theme…

In terms of the scope, this job would consist of designing the headers and footers for different sections of the site. As it stands now, I’m planning to have a main page, blog, music, and an about section. The header would be a “scene” that stretches across the entire top of the page (around 960x200 pixels or so). The footer would be a single image (215×215 pixels) like a cartoon character of me with headphones on or typing on a computer depending on which page. Here’s a good example in terms of size, checkout the image of the character at the bottom.

When I say a cartoon of me typing at a computer, I’m thinking something like this.

My preference for the design deliverable is that it be in a layered Photoshop format, but any format that supports layers and allows me to modify the design afterwards is negotiable.

Rather than be vague in this posting, I figured it was easier to describe most of it up front to give you some context and a sense for what the project entails.
