Position Summary

This is an onsite contract position. The contract will last approximately 3 months could be longer. Pay starts at $35 per hour and is negotiable based on experience.

The Web Designer’s primary role will be to create, implement and integrate design concepts, including product imagery, templates, page layouts, landing pages, and monthly promotional graphics to be used on the web site. In addition, the Web Designer will produce online advertising assets, images and e-mails to support online marketing efforts. Finally, the Web Designer will assist in planning longer-term changes to the site’s design, continuing to evolve the site’s look and feel to create a premier online shopping experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Enhance all product imagery on the website to ensure an optimal online viewing experience. Responsible for manipulating and touching up assets prior to launch. Design all monthly event graphical assets for the website; this includes assets to support the home page, site banners, promotional content, landing pages, and email. Also responsible for HTML coding of all assets so that they link to the appropriate pages on the website. Design all HTML emails based on requirements; this includes all imagery, copy, HTML linking, etc. Ensure that emails align with visual standards. Develop assets for affiliate websites, aligning with standards and guidelines for their websites. Ability to revise, optimize and produce multiple sizes of existing creative concepts for the website. Successfully complete multiple projects from concept to creation by deadline. Work with cross-functional teams to review and make changes when needed. Drive all creative design enhancements to the website; examples include site redesigns, execution of new site concepts, etc. Able to effectively and quickly translate business requirements/requests into visually compelling layouts. Provide guidance and delegation of work to contract resources when needed.

Job Qualifications/Experience

3-4 years experience in consumer web graphic design and web page creation. Strong understanding of retail eCommerce websites a plus. Mastery of Photoshop. Strong working knowledge of Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and other popular web design programs. Mastery of HTML. Strong working knowledge of CSS and JavaScript. Flash design skills a plus Knowledge and experience with web design conventions and best practices Strong understanding of how design affects site performance and load time, and how to optimize. Experience in translating strong existing offline brands into online sites a plus. Portfolio of work with retail related brands a plus. Experience with building e-commerce web sites in JSP using ATG a plus. Motivated self-starter with a passion for the web. Works well in a highly collaborative environment. Extremely organized and efficient, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at once, meeting tight deadlines.
