AideRSS is looking for a talented software engineer to help build the next generation technologies to help people deal with information overload and find and ‘Read What Matters’. Do you want to get hands-on experience with the latest virtualization technologies? Does the prospect of working to enhance, maintain and support our core technology platform excite you? Here are the specific skills we’re looking for: • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline • 3+ years of experience developing projects using Ruby, PHP, Python, MySQL, or any other parallel technologies • 3+ years of experience of working with the Linux operating system (installing the OS, configuring applications, backing up data etc.) - Strong plus, if familiar with: HA, DRBD, Monit, Munin, Postfix, Nginx, advanced Bash scripting • 3+ years of COOP experience • Understanding of large scale, multi-tier web application architecture • Project experience with - XML and DOM parsing, - serving/consuming SOAP and REST based Web Services, - AJAX interface development, - writing ad-hoc SQL queries and reports • SQL programming using MySQL 5.x, database design skills and experience with - advanced SQL programming constructs, - SQL query analysis/optimizations, - best practices for database indexing • Experience with Amazon Web Services is a strong plus • A self-starter, who places priority on getting things done • An up to date blog is a strong plus ABOUT AIDERSS AideRSS is a well-funded startup based in Waterloo, ON that is focused on helping people deal with information overload and find and ‘Read What Matters’.
