FAQs
What happened to my job ad?
We review every job ad that comes in to ensure it matches our job board, isn't ludicrously priced and isn't spam. We generally approve all jobs within 24 hours, however if your job has not appeared after 3 days then it's most likely be turned down. If you feel this is unjustified, please send us a support ticket.
What will moderators check in my job ad?
We often get support tickets asking why a job has been turned down. To save us both some time, here are a few things we will not let through:
- Spec work or unpaid internships of any kind.
- Commission based work of any kind.
- No bartering for services.
- No exploitative, ridiculously low rates.
- No contact information in the posting!
- The only place you can put your own web address is in the URL field—not the Description.
- No extra formatting — you can bold, italicize, use bullet points, insert horizontal rules and create links to sites other than your own, but do not change the font, text size or color, or add any HTML other than that which the WYSIWYG editor allows you to add.
- Ads where it is too difficult to understand the request. We accept ads from all countries, but if your English isn't good, have a fluent speaker look over your ad.
- We don't accept jobs related to pornography, or gambling and reserve the right to reject some job ads on ethical grounds.
It's worth mentioning that the job board is for people who need a freelancer to complete work for them, not a place for freelancers to ask for work! (Yes, we do see this in the moderation queue almost every day.)
I created a subscription, but my account is still the same, what do I do?
Every now and then PayPal takes a little while to get back to the system, if nothing has changed after 20 minutes, contact us for support.
I've created an advert but want to take it down / change it
You can modify and delete your job adverts by logging in and clicking on Settings > Job Ads where you will see a complete list of your current jobs. Find the job you wish to edit and select Close to complete the job, Edit Job to modify details and Delete to completely remove it.
If I am unhappy can I get a refund?
Yes, we offer an unconditional 100% money back guarantee in your first month. If you are unhappy with the service, send a support ticket prior to the end of your first month stating your username, PayPal email address, subscription ID and a reason for the termination and we'll refund your first month's subscription fee.
What happens to my information when my subscription runs out?
Any information you add to your public profile is retained unless you completely delete your account. If you have a paid subscription and the subscription expires, the premium information will be hidden until your subscription is renewed.
What do I do if someone rips me off?
The short answer is: protect yourself by always asking for down payments. Protect your fellow freelancers by letting us know about scammers on our job board, and we'll remove them.
We do our best to ensure that scammers never appear on our job boards. We scrutinize and moderate every job ad that is posted here, but there's always a possibility as a freelancer that you'll run into a scammer, no matter how you go about finding your jobs. There's not much we can do to help you get paid for any work you've done, and the collective wisdom of the freelancers running this site implores you to get 50% of your money upfront in all circumstances.
What we can do is make sure that the user doesn't scam anyone else. Send us a support ticket with as much information as possible about the ad (giving us the ad's link is the best way to help us find the ad in question), and any evidence you have against the user. We obviously can't start banning users based on allegations without evidence, so screenshots of email threads and links to places the scammer has used your work on the web are useful.
Once we have enough evidence to be reasonably certain that the user is a scammer we'll take the ad down and remove the user.
What do I do if someone has my account closed without cause?
Send us a support ticket and we'll look into the situation.
In the meantime, it may be a good idea to stay in closer communication with your freelancer! If it seems like you've disappeared after they submit work, they may think you've scammed them. It's a serious issue that is more common than you think.
